Atmosphere Studios has done it again, taking home awards in August from both the World Shoe Association (WSA) and the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market shows. The new Keen Footwear exhibit won the Most Innovative Design Award at WSA and the SNEWS Top BOB Award for Best in Show at Outdoor Retailer. These accomplishments are the latest in Atmosphere Studiosí award-winning streak, with recognition gaining momentum over the past three years, having racked up ten creative design and production awards since 2005.
The new Keen exhibit is a light, airy, 80-percent green, 3,500 square foot environment. The concept of the ìpaper structureî was inspired by the Japanese architect Shiguri Ban and Keenís desire to create a marketing environment that speaks to their ìHybridLifeî mantra. The result is an exhibit which is aesthetic, green, presents the company message and product lines well and is cost-effective to utilize in the field.
The 60í long by 16í high center monolith features stretched and printed Tyvek with cool interior lighting. The exterior walls of the 50-foot by 70-foot booth are constructed from corrugated tubes interspersed with small translucent panels of HDPE, material recycled from milk jugs. Printed Tyvek is stretched on recycled aluminum frames to enclose the presentation rooms, which feature rolling access doors with perforated cork insert panels. Beeboard (honeycombed cardboard) is stacked to form the reception counter and is also used for the flexible product shelving system. The exhibit houses a product gallery, a casual lounge, 10 writing rooms and a Kiva to promote the company's new bag line. The lighting is outstanding and the storage ample. This exhibit is a good example of simple materials repurposed for use in creating a workable, efficient, well-organized environment that not only sells products, but also promotes Keenís sustainable ethic.
ìIncorporating green into your environment promotes well being for everyone. Atmosphere is very proud to have the opportunity to assist Keen in fulfilling their vision of Standing Up, Out and For a new way of thinking about sustainability.î
