Dwayne Wade, the MVP of the NBA last season, is also helping T-Mobile re-design the Sidekick and telling T-Mobile's story. To facilitate his powerful message, Atmosphere was selected to engineer and build the 30' high and 40' diameter head of "DWade" for the NBA All Star Jam Session in Las Vegas. The vision for the production was generated by Hornall Anderson Design Works and Function+Design, both from Seattle. The collaborative efforts resulted in an amazing structure that presented DWade's face on the exterior by utilizing large printed fabric panels, which included projected digital content for movements in the eyes and mouth. The interior of Dwayne's two-story head contained many entertaining engagements involving complicated A/V systems with large video projections and theatrical lighting effects. The attendees experienced walking through the Flash Factory tunnel, taking green screen photos with Dwayne in the Memories module, a museum-like Sidekick Product Showcase, as well as the Dreams module and the D-Vision engagement in the upstairs lounge. The window on the second level provided attendees with a view of the activities being held on the adjacent T-Mobile basketball court.
Great client expectations challenged our design, build and installation teams. All the elements had to have a high level of finish within a very short project timeline. Atmosphere's ability to integrate design, production and all necessary field services was the key to the success of the project.
The Atmosphere OnSite cast included twenty employees on the ground in Vegas, along with a small army of local talent, including experts in audio, video, lighting and rigging; all coordinated beautifully.
Having completed this challenge, Atmosphere is enthusiastic about the next T-Mobile event.
